Our Students Grow as Individuals

Get off the couch! People don’t realize how healthy surfing is because it’s so much fun. But surfing burns major calories! It’s no wonder surfers are notoriously fit.

You’ll love the look in your child’s eyes after they accomplish what they didn’t think was possible. It’s a fact, surfers are happier. Surfing has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression, as well as stimulate positive self image.

From the outside, surfing looks impossible. Few think they can do it. We use surfing as a tool to teach students that anything is possible with enough preparation, patience, and grit.

…and as Community Members.

We encourage students to support one another and bond through their shared surfing experience. Surfing is about encouragement, friendship, and proactive attitudes.

Surfing isn’t just for beach bums. Some of the most important people in Hawaii are surfers. Our after school surf program connects students with the surfing community.

Who Is This Program For?

This program is an introduction to surfing for students with little-to-no experience.

No Surfing Experience Needed

This program is for students who have little-to-no experience surfing. Our program is aimed at introducing children to surfing and creating a strong foundation on which they can continue.

But Students MUST Be Able To Swim

To take this program students MUST be able to swim. Lessons will take place in gentle waves—so strong swimming is not required. By “able to swim” we mean they must be able to tread water for 1 minute without assistance.

Grades 5th Through 9th Welcome

We’re currently accepting students in grades 5 – 9. If your child is in a lower or higher grade and interested in our program, please contact us for information on exceptions.

Students are driven to Diamond Head Beach Park. We may surf at other locations if the conditions are poor at Diamond Head for any particular day.

5. Students Return To The School At 6:00pm

After surfing students will rinse off, dry off, and hydrate. Then students will be driven back to Saint Louis School by 6:00pm. Parents will be notified if there are any delays.

Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

What happens after I buy?

After you buy you’ll receive an order confirmation email with next steps. We’ll call you to set up a time to FaceTime you and your child.

Can I try the program first?

We don’t offer trial periods BUT we do give full refunds for the first 14 days of the program. If your dissatisfied for any reason simply contact us to receive a full refund.

Will you provide photos?

We will take complimentary photos of the students surfing but photos will be taken in the later months of the program when the students surfing is at it’s best. We will also periodically take photos of lessons and other activities.

Can I (the parent) join the surf lesson?

We don’t recommend parents attend surf lessons because it will make children nervous. However, parents may wait on the beach and observe the lesson in progress. We do NOT allow parents to join students in the water or during the land lesson.

How can I know if my child is a good swimmer?

This is a common question. Children do not need to be expert swimmers. A child is a good enough swimmer if they feel confident in water over their head and can tread water for at least 1 minute.

Where will the students be surfing?

Students will mostly be surfing at Diamond Head Beach Park. Occasionally conditions will warrant having the lesson at other South Shore locations. Parents will be notified anytime we do surf lesson at places besides Diamond Head Beach Park.

What if the weather/conditions are bad for surfing?

On days when there is no surf or bad conditions we will provide other activities including yoga, snorkeling, and ocean photography.

How many students will be in the class?

Class size will vary between 2 and 6 students per instructor.
