These surf lessons are for students with little or no surfing experience. We aim is to introduce children to surfing and create a strong foundation on which they can continue.
To take surf lessons students MUST be able to swim. By “able to swim” we mean they must be able to tread water for 1 minute without assistance.
We’re currently accepting students 9 years old or older. If your child is younger and interested in learning to surf, please contact us for information on exceptions.
People don’t realize how healthy surfing is because it’s so much fun. But surfing burns major calories! It’s no wonder surfers are notoriously fit.
You’ll love the look in your child’s eyes after they accomplish what they didn’t think was possible. It’s a fact, surfers are happier. Surfing has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression, as well as stimulate positive self image.
From the outside, surfing looks impossible. Few think they can do it. We use surfing as a tool to teach students that anything is possible with enough preparation, patience, and grit.
We encourage students to support one another and bond through their shared surfing experience. Surfing is about encouragement, friendship, and proactive attitudes.

We don’t recommend parents attend surf lessons because it will make children nervous. However, parents may wait on the beach and observe the lesson in progress. We do NOT allow parents to join students in the water or during the land lesson.
This is a common question. Children do not need to be expert swimmers. A child is a good enough swimmer if they feel confident in water over their head and can tread water for at least 1 minute.
Students will mostly be surfing in Waikiki. Occasionally conditions will warrant having the lesson at other south shore locations.
On days when there is no surf or bad conditions we will cancel lessons and notify parents
Class size will vary between 1 and 4 students per instructor.
